Mead Update

Here is an update on my mead making. I let the mead sit in the secondary fermenter for about 4 weeks and it clarified beautifully.



I had enough for 24 Grolsch bottles (see below) and six regular beer bottles. Of course there was a little left over that wasn't worth bottling but only good for tasting. Wow, it was delicious.

My first Mead part two

The fermentation appears to have stopped so I transfered the mead into the secondary to allow it time to clear. Right now it looks about like apple cider or the last pale ale I made. It stands at about 10.3% alcohol by volume right now and I don't expect much more. I hope to post more pictures as it clears, assuming it will clear, hey I am a WCSS sufferer!

After years of brewing beer and years of desiring to make mead after tasting it at a mystery dinner night, I have ventured out once again. Like the definition says above mead is basically honey, water, and yeast. You can add fruit and other items if you like but for now we're keeping simple.
